Original watercolor painting on cotton paper (FRAMED)

Architecturally inspired, this painting was one of my first endeavors into watercolors. Burdened and delicate, the cherub dutifully stands holding up the enormous weight of beautiful architecure. Inspired by the Renaissance style sketch books I wanted to create focus on the face, slowly thinning out into mere lines and vague colour.

Due to it's untamable and unforgiving nature, I have always steered away from using watercolor as a medium in my artwork. With experimentation and understanding I found that I could create a convincing stone effect which gives this piece the richness and depth I was hoping for.
